Italy offers an investor visa residency program that grants applicants five-year temporary residency. Investors in may then apply for permanent residency after five years and full Italian citizenship after 10 years in the country. However, for those with Italian roots, the citizenship process can be done much faster, usually after only a few years.

Application Process

For the Italian investor visa program, the investment can be made in the following:

Investment Requirements

  • Holding a bond or similar investment worth at least 2 million euros
  • Charitable organization donation of at least 1 million euros
  • Innovative startup investment worth at least 250,000 euros
  • Shares of a limited company worth at least 500,000 euros

Other requirements:

  • The investment should be held as long as you decide to stay in Italy or until permanent residency is obtained, which is after five years.
  • A police certificate from your country of origin
  • Valid health insurance covering all your family members
  • Accommodations in Italy befitting your family
