Panama
Wealth Visa
Panama offers many paths for rentiers and pensioners to come stay in the country. In both cases, applicants will need to show a stable and sufficient income. Approved applicants and their family receive a five-year renewable resident permit that can lead directly to permanent residency after two years. Citizenship is possible after five years of permanent residency. Although Panama does no recognize dual citizenship, Americans cannot lose their U.S. citizenship during the Panama citizenship process. Panama does not levy any tax on foreign income.

Panama Wealth Visa
Application Process
Under both Panama rentier and pensioner visas, applicants will need to demonstrate a stable and secure income during their stay in the country. Under both programs, your spouse and children up to the age of 25 years old are eligible as dependents. After two years, you and your dependents will directly qualify for permanent residency.
Requirements
- Criminal record certificate or sworn statement before a notary public
- Health certificate
- Affidavit of personal background
- Documents proving your stable and secure income
Other requirements:
- The Panama rentier visa is available to those who can guarantee a stable monthly income of $850. That monthly income must come from the interest earned on deposits at the National Bank of Panama or the Savings Bank. As of 2021, the interest rates are 2% on bank deposits in Panama; therefore, an estimated $500,000 bank deposit is needed to generate the minimum interest for that period of time. You must commit to a five-year deposit.
